Katie Finley has been a part of the Hudson Valley community for eight years. She is a New York State Licensed Acupuncturist and is nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs.
Katie Finley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Wesleyan University and
a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the New York City campus
of Pacific College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She also
received Doula training from The Seattle Midwifery School.
In studying for her MS degree, Katie completed four years of extensive training, including Chinese medical theory and diagnosis, acupuncture,
herbal medicine, Western medical theory, as well as
Tui Na massage and Qi Gong. Katie also completed additional training in a clinical setting at the
Pacific Acupuncture Clinic and at the Lutheran Medical Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Acupuncture training requirements in NY
All
New York state (NYS) Licensed Acupuncturists (L.Ac.) are required to undertake a course of study
involving 4,050 hours of classroom instruction, supervised clinical
experience, and out of classroom or out of clinic study assignments.
This must be done at an institution with a program registered and
approved by the NYS Board of Regents.
In addition, to obtain a
license, an NYS acupuncturist must successfully complete an examination
of the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine. The individual may then receive a License to
Practice Acupuncture in the State Of New York and will be
designated L.Ac.
